The cutoff, and why we don’t bend it

The cutoff, and why we don’t bend it

A cutoff time can feel like a sales trick — “order now or miss out.” Ours isn’t that. It’s simply when the kitchen needs to know how much to buy and cook for the next morning, and it’s the same reason every real kitchen running fresh food, anywhere, works this way.

What the cutoff actually does

School meals are cooked fresh, early the next morning, for exactly the number of children who ordered. That only works if the kitchen knows the number the night before — which is what the cutoff is for.

You can still change your mind

Up until that cutoff, you can edit or cancel the order yourself. It’s only once the kitchen has actually started buying and prepping for the morning that it’s locked in.

Tonight’s cutoff is coming up either way — the only choice is whether you’ve placed an order before it, or you’re back to cooking at 6am. Order tonight’s school meal, or see full details on our FAQ.
